This is her
story.
When Paul
Leonard-Morgan decided to have a gospel choir sing
at his wedding in 2007, there was one obvious person
he turned to. Tracey Braithwaite was a long-time
friend, and a singer who Paul had worked with in
both sessions and with Glasgow legend Horse. She
also had a reputation for being one of the best
networked musicians in Scotland, so it took her no
time to cobble together an outstanding array of
talent for the big day. The Gospel Truth Choir was
born.
Tracey has
been a singer all of her life, and a profesional
singer for over 20 years. She sang on a number one
single in the UK dance charts (With the band
Dansatak) before touring the UK for the first of
many times, and was KT Tunstall's backing singer
before the famous pedal took over (Tracey and KT are
still good friends). She has performed across a wide
selection of genres, from country to punk, and is
known for her great soulful delivery.
She holds a
HND in Modern Musicianship, and a B.A. in Applied
Music (with a community specialism) and spends her
time away from the choir as a
vocal
coach. She has worked extensively with a wide
variety of students, including many who have gone on
to vocal success (and some who now sing with the
choir!). Tracey particularly enjoys taking her vocal
and life skills into challenging situations,
including spells working with HIV/AIDS patients, and
children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As Director of
The Gospel Truth Choir, Tracey (or "Mama-T" as she's
often known), is the driving force behind the choral
performances of the choir, and leads all rehearsals
and stage performances. She also works with clients,
particularly in the wedding world, to seamlessly
integrate the choir into those big events.
